Writing 2 Inspire: $80.00 per nine weeks
Two of the most difficult subjects to teach students are writing and English, simply because many people write how they speak instead of speaking how they should write. Also, most people lose interest in writing and really developing their thoughts, as they weren't inspired by their teachers. I am an oddball: I have loved the writing instruction I have received throughout my school career. Now, after several suggestions and requests, I've devised a writing program tailored to the individual student that is fun and meant to inspire. These are 9 week sessions that include essay genres, such as descriptive, persuasive, cause and effect, and personal narrative to name a few, literary analysis, weekly discussion questions, and journaling, all revolving around the student's interests. The first step to inspiring writing is to have fun and let the student be creative! The student will be able to experiment with various forms of writing while learning to master grammar and syntax concepts as they focus on the six traits of effective writing. There will be bi-weekly face-to-face conferences and email responses within 24 hours, so the student will know he or she is not alone in the learning process. Assignments are submitted via email. Tutoring: $30.00 per hour
I am adept at tutoring all levels as my current students range in age from kindergarten through adult learner/college. My specialties are English, essay writing, social studies, and anatomy, but I am confident in my ability to re-learn material and tutor students in other subjects as well (other than higher math, such as calculus). I took five semesters of Spanish in college as well, so I am able to tutor beginning speakers. I am willing to meet students in their home or at a public place, such as a library or coffee shop. Testing: $60.00 for 1-5 Students
Yearly testing can give parents a better idea of what their child has learned over the year and what subjects might require greater concentration in the future. I am willing to test up to ten students at a time using either the Iowa Test of Basic Skills or the Stanford Achievement Test. Testing requires a minimum of six (6) to eight (8) hours over a two (2) day period. Students in 3rd grade and up may test together, but younger students will need to be tested by individual grade level. Tests are an additional cost, approximately $44.00 per test.
